Robert W. Woodruff Library Renovation
Renovations to the Robert W. Woodruff Library at the Atlanta University Center included reconfiguration of the main floor to include an extended hours access area and cafe; a main level learning commons with digital library; classrooms and labs; and administration and staff offices. Improvements to the upper level included a multi-use special events and exhibition hall, and an expansion of the special collections and archives center that currently serves as the repository for the Morehouse College King Papers. The enhancements to the existing building updated aging infrastructure, upgraded building accessibility, provided flexible arrangements to the interior space, and improved the interior aesthetics including lighting, colors, and interior finishes.
Silverman CPM represented the Robert W. Woodruff Library throughout the life of the project. The Firm managed the procurement of the design and construction teams, managed the design team and provided due diligence, pre-construction, construction and post-construction management.
In April of 2012, The International Interior Design Association and the Library Leadership and Management Association awarded the Robert W. Woodruff Library the distinguished Library Interior Design Award in the single space category. Shepley Bulfinch of Boston, MA received the award.
