East Lake Country Club Villages

Silverman CPM was hired by the East Lake Community Foundation / Cousins Foundation to help with the development and construction of the first phase of housing at the new East Lake Villages. 

This project, a collaboration with the Atlanta Housing Authority, replaced a neglected public housing project with mixed income units. The project consisted of 182 apartments totaling 240,000 sq. ft.of space. Silverman’s role included the oversight of the apartments, as well as managing the work on the road infrastructure and other buildings in the complex.

The success of the East Lake Villages project led to the creation of Purpose Built Communities, a non-profit consulting firm that works side-by-side with local leaders to plan and implement holistic revitalization efforts across the country. Backed by Warren Buffett, Tom Cousins, and Julian Robertson, it has become a replicable model for urban renewal programs nationwide.
