Atlanta’s Historic Westside Neighborhood

The ATL Super Bowl Host Committee selected Silverman CPM to serve as Program Manager and Owner’s Representative for the renovation of J.F. Kennedy Park in Atlanta’s Historic Westside Neighborhood. The Super Bowl Host Committee Legacy 53 Initiative will gift the $2 million project to the City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation. The NFL Foundation, Atlanta Sports Council and Arthur M. Blank Foundation graciously provided the funding.

Early on, the Silverman CPM team was engaged to ensure the Design-Build project finishes on time and on budget. Since the CoA Parks & Rec Department will be responsible for maintaining the park, Silverman is coordinating with Sports Fields, Inc. to assure everything is to the Parks & Rec required specifications. While the deadline is tight with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony planned for the week before the Super Bowl, there is already great progress to maintain an on-time delivery. All permits have already been secured for the initial ground breaking with only a minor building permit necessary for the shade shelter. The hope is that the newly renovated park will foster play and a healthy lifestyle and provide a lasting positive impact from Atlanta hosting Super Bowl LIII.  

The John F. Kennedy Park renovation features provisions for both children and adults:

• Full-level turf playing surface 
• Community walking path
• Fit-Trail exercise system for fitness training
• New playground equipment with soft turf underpinning
• New hard-court basketball court
• Shade picnic pavilion 
• Sidewalk lighting for evening use
• Current playground equipment to be repurposed, upgraded, and placed in Ashby Circle Playlot

Super Bowl LIII takes place on February 3, 2019 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The newly renovated John F. Kennedy Park will be unveiled the prior week with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The entire Silverman CPM team is honored to be involved in this community enriching project. Silverman works diligently to ensure that each project benefits the community as much as possible by ensuring budget control, on-time delivery, and quality construction.
