Community & Performing Arts Center
Silverman CPM was hired by the DeKalb County Development Authority during the design phase of this project. This 39,000 sq. ft. building accommodates approximately 500 seniors and staff. The facility includes an indoor therapeutic pool, commercial kitchen and 236–seat dining hall, a fitness room, aerobics room, martial arts room, a social lounge, arts and crafts room, ceramics room, game room, computer room, a resource library, an outdoor garden, and offices for DeKalb for Seniors, Inc. and the DeKalb Human and Community Development Department.
Silverman CPM’s scope of services during the design phase consisted of review of design documents, budgeting and schedule responsibility, bid coordination, and management of value engineering. Construction was completed in 2005.
The projects have included bike and walking trails, new street and path lighting, new and refurbished granite curbing, a sculpture plaza, an environmentally sensitive solution to a severe water drainage problem with the Rain Garden project, and the installation of landscaping.
The projects were funded by 12 different sources. Silverman CPM assisted in developing Requests for Proposal, represented the projects at eleven public meetings, developed bid packages, and managed architectural and civil engineering teams as well as contractors. All of these projects resulted in 2.1 miles of new and refurbished roadscapes.
