Silverman CPM Selected as the “Local Funding Partner’s Representative” for the Atlanta Downtown Streetcar Project

In March of 2012, Silverman Construction Program Management (Silverman CPM) was selected as the Local Funding Partner’s Representative and the Construction Coordinator for the Atlanta Downtown Streetcar Project.  This approximately $70 million multi-modal, high-quality transit project  is a collaborative partnership between the City of Atlanta, the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (ADID) and MARTA.  The 2.6-mile East-West line will run through the heart of Atlanta’s business, tourism and convention corridor and will provide a transit network through Centennial Olympic Park, Georgia State University, The Civic Center, The Arts Center, Edgewood and Auburn Avenue and the Peachtree Corridor.

Arnie Silverman is the Local Funding Partner’s Representative and Phil Meador, Silverman CPM Senior Project Manager, is responsible for the construction coordination services working closely with Metropolitan Atlanta Transit Consultants, a joint venture between AECOM USA, Inc., Williams-Russell & Johnson, Inc. and Atkins North America, Inc.

Key benefits of the streetcar include:

  • Enhanced mobility to transit-dependent populations
  • Immediate job creation and economic development
  • Reduction in car dependency in a significant live-and-work corridor
  • Emissions reduction, impacting air quality and sustainability
  • Convenient service increasing transit ridership, foot traffic and customers for the businesses in downtown Atlanta

The Atlanta Streetcar and the Atlanta Beltline project are complementary elements of the City’s Connect Atlanta Plan to increase urban mobility, sustainable development and livability of the city of Atlanta.  Silverman CPM is excited to be a part of the team that will help stimulate economic growth in downtown Atlanta.
